About Soren Bach

RCA trained milliner, Søren Bach, originally began his career as a hairstylist and has been working commercially as a hairdresser for over 20 years. After graduating from Royal College of Art in 2007, Bach garnered fame for his imaginative and conceptual millinery.

Bach has three couture collections under his own name, each being well received by press and stylists alike. His work has featured in Dazed & Confused, POP, Numero, Russian Vogue and British Vogue. Bach’s collections have also toured the world with the help of Kopenhagen Fur who have been working closely with Bach on his millinery collections since 2007.

His fourth collection for Autumn/Winter 2010 will be shown at Copenhagen Fashion Week. It sees Bach returning to his earlier experiments with innovative fur dying techniques – techniques that earned him his current reputation as one of the most innovative milliners of today. A piece from Bach’s early MA collection went on to feature in Stephen Jones’ Hats: An Anthology exhibition, at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and is currently touring the world.

Autumn/Winter 2010 uses fox and mink fur and is inspired by Russian folklore with a fervent touch of romanticism. Impressions of flowers, namely the romantic rose, is hand-cut into the fur and dyed in tones of red and lilac set against both black and white. The six-piece collection demonstrates Bach’s dyeing and cutting expertise, evolving into a season, which is both feminine and progressive.

Previous commissions span from designing hats worn by Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss in editorials shot by Mario Testino, to working with Danish singer Lene Nystrøm, pop band Aqua and Grace Jones to name but a few.

Bach currently lives in between London and Copenhagen.
